Test Track is an attraction at Epcot that has seen many changes over the years. In fact, this transportation-focused pavilion has had three very successful lives since the 1980s. But to trace the history of both Test Track and World of Motion, one must go back to the 1964 New York World's Fair. Where Disney had their first collaboration with an automobile company and developed an impressive attraction, the Ford Magic Skyway. While many Disney fans still fondly remember the premier of 'it's a small world', Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and the Carousel of Progress, many seem to forget the Magic Skyway. This revolutionary experience fine tuned the omnimover, a vital component to the success of Disney dark rides and original Epcot attractions, and influenced both World of Motion and Universe of Energy. But Test Track was a testament to how Imagineers could keep the spirit of Epcot alive while still adapting to the demands of regular theme park goers craving thrill rides.
