When Disney released the trailer for their most recent reboot of a classic animated movie, Mulan, anticipation was high for what felt like a slam dunk for Disney. But that was when we were children of summer as since then a loooot of things have happened. Like really a lot. While most have been out of Disney’s control such as the disastrous effects of Covid-19, they also haven’t done much to themselves, leading them to drop the ball numerous times with their latest outing.
In this video we will take a look at Disney’s sweeping epic which in many ways differed from its source material. We will explore the ways Disney got it wrong- from political controversy, a botched release schedule and marketing strategy to cutting out some of the most iconic and fan favourite moments from the original movie.
