On June 24, 2013, the Walt Disney Studios honored late Mouseketeer, singer, and actress Annette Funicello by naming stage 1 after her, the location where the original Mickey Mouse Club was filmed. On hand for the event were original Mouseketeers, Richard Sherman, Tim Considine and David Stollery (Disney's Spin and Marty), and Frankie Avalon along with Disney CEO, Bob Iger.
